Explorer credentials for lightweight Unitech handheld
What is described as EGPRS is incorporated in the latest version of the PDA-style PA600 handheld terminal from rugged mobile computing specialist Unitech. The company says it provides faster data transmission rates than standard GPRS. This Explorer version of the unit runs Windows Mobile 5.0. It comes with an Intel PXA270 processor running at 520MHz, along with 64MB of flash ROM and 128MB of RAM memory. Features also include 802.11 and Bluetooth wireless networking. Other features include a multifunctional keyboard and LCD colour touch screen - both equipped with back-lighting to offer good readability in diffuse light situations. There is also an integrated barcode scanner. Despite its feature set, the PA600 weighs just 290g, which the company says is the lowest weight for its class.
It is IP64-rated for dust and moisture resistance, and is said to withstand a 1.2m drop on to concrete.
