A 'shrink-wrapped' proof of delivery solution for couriers that can be deployed in just two weeks has been announced by mobile data solutions specialist Codegate. It is a hosted and managed solution, based on the company's mobilecourier product line, and targets a range of logistics operations including despatch and point-to-point pickup and delivery.

Features can include real-time signature capture for proof of delivery and collection, image capture, consignment scheduling, vehicle tracking, two way messaging, vehicle checks and lone worker functionality. 'Customers simply choose and only pay for the features and functionality they need,' says managing director Terran Churcher.

The system is designed for both Windows Mobile and Windows CE.Net operating systems. The company says this means it can run on 'virtually any' rugged mobile device.

Information can be collected at various points within the delivery cycle, and can include captured photographs to prove attendance at a collection where there is no one at home, or to show damage to goods.

'If customers decide that they require additional features as their business demands change, we can simply activate these for them at the touch of a button, future-proofing their investment,' Churcher says.
