Telematics suppliers looking for a complete ready-made package of hardware and systems as the basis for their tracking products might be interested in a new development from Finnish company Fastrax.

The company is a provider of programmable GPS receivers and software solutions for original equipment manufacturers, and has now extended its offering to include a complete tracking environment called Fastrax Track&Trace platform.

The company says this is designed for either telematics device manufacturers or asset tracking service providers, and is suited for both professional fleet management applications and a wide range of GPS-enabled consumer devices and services.

The hardware is based on a uTrace03 telematics module, which consists of a GPS receiver with an integrated antenna, a GSM/GPRS modem with an integrated quad band antenna, and connectors for easy implementation.

 

Usefully, the Track&Trace platform includes the pre-certified uTrace03 Evaluation Kit, which is described as a complete battery powered tracking device.
