Severn Trent extends tracking across the board
![]() Severn Trent Water is fitting a vehicle tracking system into 300 additional vehicles, more than doubling its existing deployment in 200 vans and commercial vehicles. It has again chosen the C-Track system from DigiCore. Project manager Paul Adams says the company wanted a system that would add insight into its fleet operations, help achieve operating efficiencies, promote safer and more responsible driving and enhance customer service. The C-Track system was rolled out on the company's metering and sewerage operations during last year. Now the organisation is extending the deployment to its water samplers and water production vehicles. The system's record in the initial deployment is impressive. Aided by management and shift changes, it has reportedly helped increase the organisation's rate of meter reads per hour by 19 per cent, as well as reducing overtime claims 'substantially'. In the sewerage business, jobs per hour have increased by 6 per cent, and there has been a small reduction in overtime claims here too. Interestingly, Severn Trent was reportedly instrumental in prompting the development of the Web-based version of the C-Track system. It wanted a system that could be deployed quickly, and asked if DigiCore could host it. The rest, as they say, is history, and this version is now part of the supplier's standard offering.
