Smarter, self-contained trailer tracking from Microlise
As the market for trailer tracking becomes increasing competitive, Microlise has updated and streamlined its Microlise Trailer Tracking product, making it more self-contained, easier to fit and more capable when it comes to integrating with other vehicle systems. Version 3.0 of the GPS/GPRS-based system comes in a single weatherproof and tamper-proof housing, with integral antenna. The company says it is easy to install on the underside of the trailer, reducing downtime to a minimum. When the trailer is connected to the tractor unit, the system is powered by the vehicle's electrical system via the 'suzi' connector, but a 40-day rechargeable battery now provides improved power backup. The company says visibility of the trailer can be maintained for up to 40 days, even when it is disconnected from a power source. If the trailer is disturbed, a vibration/motion sensor 'wakes' the unit, and it immediately transmits an alert and starts reporting its position at regular intervals. Peripheral connectors now allow on-board systems to be monitored alongside location, including temperature, weighing systems and door openings. Enhanced standards compliance now includes conformity to CE, WEEE, VCA and CTIA BCRO networking and safety standards.
