Two-dimensional and high-density scanning support from Honeywell
![]() Honeywell has added support for two-dimensional and high-density barcodes to its established 3800g linear barcode scanner range. The company says that 2D barcodes such as PDF417 barcodes hold more data and are now nearly ubiquitous, appearing on everything from inventory tracking and management systems to ID cards and shipping labels. At the same time, it says the use of high-density (HD) linear barcodes is common among industries required to label small items, such as those found in the electronics and manufacturing sectors. You need to decide which enhanced technology you want. The 3800gPDF is designed for swipe-reading PDF417 barcodes in addition to standard linear barcodes, while the 3800gHD is optimised for close-range scanning of small high-density barcodes. Both use a design with no moving parts, and incorporate Honeywell's high-performance Adaptus Imaging Technology 5.0. They come with a five-year warranty.
