Solid-state disk in Motion's tablet upgrade

A solid-state 'hard disk' is one of the enhancements introduced in an upgraded version of the LE1700 Tablet PC from Motion Computing. The 64GB solid-state drive is said to improve performance and add durability by protecting the PC better against extreme shock and vibrations.

The company has also introduced a new processor option – the Ultra Low Voltage U7500 version of Intel's Core2 Duo unit. Motion says this offers up to a 10 per cent improvement in performance over the previous Core Solo processor without any impact on battery life.

A further upgrade comes in the form of the enhanced UltraView and UltraView Anywhere displays, which provide a brighter, wide viewing angle in an SXGA+ resolution of 1400 by 1050 pixels.

The LE1700 is a semi-rugged tablet PC with a 12.1 inch display, designed for use in mobile environments.

Motion has also introduced new options for its F5 Tablet PC and C5 Mobile Clinical Assistant, which can now be equipped with an ITG OMNIKEY smartcard reader and an EasyConnect USB/Ethernet module for use on wired local area networks.
