Tracking equipment supplier launches vehicle tracking service
A fully-fledged vehicle tracking system has been launched by TrackerShack, a company which has previously concentrated on supplying equipment and components for tracking and surveillance, rather than complete systems. TrackerShack Fleet Tracker is described as an easy-to-use, cost-effective solution to managing fleets and assets and improving productivity, security and customer service. The company says it incorporates the latest technology in GPS- and GPRS-based vehicle telematics. The system can show the vehicle's position on screen, highlighting its location with a 'snail trail' on a fully zoomable street-level map. Position updates are provided every minute, and the system also generates summary and detailed historical journey reports. It also allows users to monitor vehicle behaviour including out of hours mileage and excessive driving time. The company says it was prompted to launch the system by the need for operators to demonstrate duty of care conformance following the introduction of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, which came into effect in April this year. TrackerShack was set up five years ago, and says it is one of the UK's fastest-growing manufacturers and suppliers of security and surveillance products, delivering thousands of tracking units every year.
