Exel saves with Isotrak
Logistics giant Exel has stepped up its use of the Isotrak fleet management system by installing it in 30 vehicles at its Banbury site. We understand they will be working mainly on a Mars contract. The company says it has already experienced "significant cost savings" with the Isotrak system at its Bawtry base. As examples, it cites an 80 per cent reduction in engine idling time, improved service reliability and reduced fuel consumption. Regional transport director Lyn Samuel says he also sees benefits in security and customer service. Isotrak links an in-cab computer and communication system with a hosted, Web-based real-time fleet monitoring and management system. The company itself was originally part of Exel, but became independent some years ago. Meanwhile, on a separate operation for car manufacturer BMW, Exel says it has solved a label-printing problem by adopting a variable-label software and hardware solution from Intellident.
