April/May 2002 Wireless link for Intermec printer Built-in 802.11b wireless connectivity has been introduced in the EasyCoder range of industrial printers from Intermec. The company says its EasyLAN Wireless technology significantly reduces the time and cost required to install a networked barcode label printer. The system is seen as ideal for situations where a label printer has to be moved around as needed, not just kept where there is a wired network. The radio is built to withstand harsh operating environments in industrial and manufacturing installations, and is completely enclosed within the printer's rugged steel case. The EasyLAN option supports three different wireless LAN antenna configurations, allowing customers to choose the optimal design for difficult areas such as long corridors, outdoors or in factories and warehouses with heavy concentrations of metal equipment or shelving.
