April/May 2002 Field service solution from Overnet A new field service management solution for GPRS-enabled pocket PCs has been launched by OverNet Data. M-Workforce allows mobile workers to view all details relating to a job on their Pocket PC. Workers get instant access to job schedules and job history information improving coordination and communication with head office. Features include live updates from the field to management on the status of each job; visit tracking; receipt of customer signatures on completion; and call logging. The software displays the customer's record, enabling the engineer to call the customer directly through a single press of a button. The system will also record whether a call was successful, and provides a notepad screen where the engineer can write notes about the call. These details are then stored in a call log file associated with the job. M-Workforce utilises Microsoft's Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition platform, together with a customised user interface and integration into back-end systems.
