Low cost depot scanning and POD

Barcoding and handheld computing specialist Littlefoot has developed a new depot scanning and proof of delivery unit aimed at overnight delivery companies.

The unit is based around a rugged sub-£600 Datalogic Viper handheld computer with barcode scanning capabilities and what is described as easy-to-use software. It includes depot-based discrepancy scanning facilities, as well as basic proof of delivery tracking facilities. The system can work either in stand-alone mode, in which case it is used in conjunction with Microsoft Access or Excel, or directly with dedicated courier management packages such as the CourierLogistix software from ticHost.

Littlefoot selected the handheld because of its combination of rugged construction, light weight, long battery life and small size.
