Service despatch

Pocket Despatcher, a field service despatch application developed by Telepartner Systems, has been re-engineered to run on handheld devices using Microsoft Pocket PC, the operating system for PDAs derived from the Windows CE platform. The first application is on Siemens' new SX45 unit, which combines a PDA with GSM/GPRS mobile phone technology.

Telepartner says that its back-office software allows engineers equipped with GPRS-enabled mobile devices to access data when they want it, so there's no need to download a large customer file, equipment manual or parts database and therefore no need for a handheld with a vast memory.

Pocket Despatcher handles full job despatch, status and closure of service tasks, and has a range of application extensions providing functionality for jobs such as parts management, bar-code reading and engineer or lone worker location.
