Mobile scanner, USB printer

A portable colour scanner with USB connectivity has been added to the range of Pentax Technologies Europe. Although the Dsmobile is a full-page, full-colour model, it's just 28cm long and weighs less than 340kg. It is said to be compatible with Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP on any PC with a USB port and USB-access software. The price is around £75.

Pentax has only recently added USB connectivity to its PocketJet family of mobile printers to speed up printing from handheld computers, PDAs and laptops. The company says this means they can be connected quickly and simply for on-the-spot printing for remote and field workers with compatible laptops, PDAs and Windows CE devices.

The standard kit includes either the PocketJetII 300 dpi printer or the PocketJet 200 dpi printer, plus internal battery, AC adapter/battery charger, interface cable, carrying case, an AC power cable, a user manual, driver disk, head cleaner and 100 Sheets of Pentax paper. Charging takes 70 minutes, and lasts long enough to print 35-40 pages, says Pentax.
