GPRS roaming from Vodafone
Vodafone has maintained its lead in the roll-out of GPRS Internet access by making international roaming available to UK customers. Thirteen European countries are covered in the initial wave, plus Hong Kong. The company is emphasising the ease of doing the roaming. No change in codes or settings is required, it says. Users can simply work in their established way, accessing their corporate e-mail and intranet, surfing the Web, and using WAP from GPRS mobile phones, laptops and PDAs. They simply have to contact their Vodafone UK service provider to request access. The European countries covered are Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Vodafone says GPRS international roaming will be extended progressively to cover all networks that offer GPRS services around the world.
