Mobile support gets in on the ACT!
Two leading mobile communications developers have affirmed their support for the ACT! contact management and CRM software package from Best Software, which is widely used in mobile sales and service environments. Peramon, the mobile Internet developer, has launched a product called ACT! Connector, which is built round its existing development platform, theMOBILIZER. It is said to allow users to link up to an ACT! system on their corporate server over virtually any network, whether via mobile phone, PDA or the Web. The system has been developed in association with Concise Contact Management, which supports ACT! in the UK. In the US, mobile data management giant Extended Systems has announced that the new version of its connectivity package, XTNDConnect PC version 4.8, will immediately support ACT! 6.0, the latest version of this system. XTNDConnect PC already supports a variety of popular PC applications and links them with a range of mobile devices including Pocket PCs, Palms and selected Sony Ericsson phones. Currently Extended Systems is deeply involved in developing Bluetooth technologies that will allow in-vehicle systems to connect wirelessly with mobile phones carried by drivers. Such developments should allow much more seamless integration of data capture and POD systems with on-board computers and related equipment.
