Online version of Fleetstar launched
Telematics specialist Cybit, which acquired the Fleetstar vehicle tracking and management system from Trafficmaster early this year, has launched an updated online version called Fleetstar-Online, and claims it has already won orders for it worth over £1 million. The system gives fleet operators real-time and historical fleet management data on an ASP (application service provider) basis, delivering information over the Internet. You could for instance have the system alert you if your vehicles make unscheduled stops, travel too fast or call at unauthorised locations. The system integrates with Smartnav, the new telematics package from Trafficmaster (see above). Among early users are Damco International, a specialist in marquees and temporary structures, and Amdega, which produces hand-crafted conservatories. Damco is using it to manage over 100 vehicles, and operations director Tim Clark says it has brought benefits in visibility of fleet and safety for drivers.
