French telematics specialist sets up in UK
French telematics company Masternaut has opened a UK headquarters in Leeds. Masternaut offers an Internet-based managed telematics service that focuses on capturing information in real time and delivering reports to highlight problem areas requiring action. The Mobile Collection Unit on the vehicle automatically collects vehicle and driver information. It can interface with tachograph and satellite navigation systems, and can be programmed to recognise driver ID cards. The reports are then delivered to the user via the Web for viewing on a PC. They can be tailored to include first and last stops, time spent at one stop, and distanced travelled. Masternaut has been established for 10 years in France. Its customers include supermarket group Carrefour and parcels company FedEx.
