Track handset repairs
Managers with mobile workers won't need reminding that handhelds do get damaged, that repair services can be very slow, and that finding out when the unit might be back can be frustratingly difficult. In welcome recognition of the importance of service, Psion Teklogix has opened a centralised pan-European repair operation in France. It operates 24 hours a day, and aims to turn round handhelds in three to five days. Customers are given a job number and can track the status of the repair on the Internet. "Speed is important, but customers also like to know when a damaged hand-held will be back in service, even if they do have a spare one," explains Claire Piggott, marketing manager.
