Jambuster package for PDAs
An onboard navigation package called Jambuster GPS for users of mainstream PDAs such as the Compaq Ipaq is being offered by Web-based marketing organisation Routeplanners at just £199. The bundle includes TomTom Navigator software, plus a "Supermouse" - a compact GPS unit the size of a large computer mouse, with a magnetic base that allows it to be attached to the outside of a vehicle. The Supermouse is DGPS-ready (able to use differential GPS for greater accuracy), and connects to the PDA by cable via a PS/2 style connector and VersAdapter. The package can be powered from the vehicle's cigar-lighter socket. The TomTom software includes voice navigation, trip re-routing and a map of Britain which takes up 84MB, but can be installed in sections to reduce memory requirements. The system is available for a variety of Pocket PC devices including models by Casio, Compaq, HP, O2 and Siemens. Routeplanners is a brand of Newcastle-based Law & Farrell.
