More connectivity, remote configuration for Netpads
The distinctive Netpad table-style handheld terminal from Psion Teklogix is now available with a range of optional connectivity packages for local- and wide-area wireless networking. They include 802.11b WLAN and GSM/GPRS mobile phone technology. Teklogix has also introduced a wireless network management tool, MapRF, which enables network administrators at user companies to configure and update their Netpads centrally from a standard Web-based interface. Features include something called "auto-discovery", which allows IT managers to locate devices among multiple sites. MapRF uses the open-standard Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and integrates with Psion Teklogix's wireless backbone, as well as with its other handheld and vehicle-mounted computers.
