Terminal emulation in Datalogics latest handheld
A lightweight handheld terminal called the DL8600 Kyman has been added to the family from Datalogic. It can read both linear and two-dimensional barcodes, and can transfer data in real time in mobile applications. It is based on the same PC-like architecture as Datalogic's Viper, a pistol-grip terminal in the mobile@workfamily, and supports the same RadioReady concept for wireless communication (including IEEE 802.11b). Datalogic is offering a variety of connectivity options through a new range of DL-TCL terminal emulation software, which allows use with OS/400, Unix, Microsoft Windows, and popular ERP systems such as SAP R/3. Included free of charge is an emulation client specifically developed for Datalogic wireless DOS portable terminals in both Formula and mobile@work families. The Kyman has a high-contrast back-lit LCD display, keyboard-controlled contrast, and a 42-key alphanumeric keypad.
