Show launch for FleetWise telemetry system
The FleetWise engine management and reporting system, which was previously part of portfolio of engine manufacturer Cummins, has been acquired by a new company, RTL, and is being expanded into a wider-ranging telemetry system. The initials stand for Rainkine Thompson Limited. The company is headed by Harry Thompson, and the technical director is Konstantin Rainkine. Previously Thompson ran a business called TW Telecom, and through this he had a seven-year long association with Cummins, during which time the company developed the RoadRelay remote monitoring and reporting system. FleetWise is said to lie at the heart of this system, as well as supporting the Rollover Stability Programme (RSP) installed in BP Oil's UK tanker fleet. FleetWise monitors every aspect of the vehicle's power unit, delivering information to an Aplicom in-cab computer, and also transmitting reports directly back to the fleet manager.
