NetDespatch goes mobile
Having established a name for itself in Web-based job-booking systems for the courier and express market, NetDespatch has expanded into the mobile data business with a new system called NDMobile. This allows users to connect centralised IT systems with mobile devices such as smart phones, handheld scanners and PDAs. It is aimed not so much at end users as at vendors. NetDespatch says it enables them to turn mobile devices into ready-for-market solutions. Underpinning the system are Web Services technology and XML-formatted data communications, chosen for flexibility and easy configuration and integration. NetDespatch says the system can be set up quickly to provide two-way data exchange. Information can be captured from mobiles in real time or in batches according to requirements. In logical terms, the data passes through a customised NDMobile Web site. The first implementation is by an existing NetDespatch partner, MASC Communications, which is using the platform to manage its voice browsing system.
