Real-time tracking, navigation and messaging all look set to become the big developments in 2003, as more and more users decide they can benefit from live, dynamic information about vehicles and mobile workers.

Fleet management software company CS Electronics certainly thinks so: it has introduced TrakNav, which combines Siemens VDO's real-time navigation, vehicle tracking and CS's own Nomad job despatch/ messaging application in one product.

TrakNav offers real-time or historic tracking, dynamic estimated time-of-arrival notification and two-way messaging. CS is best known for its TrakManager fleet management system, which forms the core of a range of applications from monitoring load temperature to field service solutions using vehicle-based and handheld data terminals.
