Building services company cuts fuel costs by tracking
John Youngs Insurance Services, a leading building maintenance contractor, says it has saved 100 vehicle miles per month, cutting fuel costs by 12.5 per cent, since fitting the Fleetstar-Online tracking and reporting system from Cybit in 75 of its vehicles. It has now ordered units for a further 25 vehicles. According to managing director Paul Hannant, the savings equate to around £2,700 a month so far, or £90,000 a year. "And we're looking forward to further benefits in efficiency and visibility across all areas of our business." John Youngs specialises in house repairs for insurance companies such as Norwich Union, and has fitted the telematics system as a contribution to Norwich Union's Roadsense initiative to improve driver safety. It chose Cybit after also evaluating systems from Minorplanet, Siemens Datatrak, Thales and Tardis. John Youngs is a subsidiary of long-standing building group RG Carter. Although it dates back only to 1997, it already turns over more than £5 million.
