Field service specialist saves through satellite tracking
ASC, a maintenance services company based in Chester, says that fitting its vehicles with the Masternaut tracking system has boosted productivity by up to 25 per cent, as well as improving customer service and enhancing the safety of lone workers. Masternaut tracks vehicles using GPS satellite technology and transmits the data over mobile phone networks. The information is accessed in the office via the Internet. The biggest benefit of the Masternaut system for ASC, according to general manager Kevin Hughes, has come from the daily call logs it produces. He describes it as "invisible clocking in and out, and says: "Engineers now have a completely self-monitoring system." This means, for instance, that they can return home from a site without needing to call in. ASC provides a range of services including installation, inspection and maintenance of plumbing, heating and gas equipment, as well as general building works and maintenance.
