Kaizen Couriers combines customer input with real-time tracking

In a bid to rival the sophistication of the large express carriers, same-day delivery specialist Kaizen Couriers has implemented a system that combines direct order input by customers with tracking and tracing of consignments in the field.

It has chosen Mnetics to provide the system, becoming one of the first users of this supplier's Mobility - Collection & Delivery system.

In the office, Mobility - Collection & Delivery provides all the established components of what has become known as an "implant" system. Key customers can enter their collection and delivery requests directly into the Kaizen system, using a PC and the Internet. Collection and delivery addresses can be stored locally, so the process is quick and straightforward. When the request is sent, Kaizen staff are alerted by e-mail. The Mobility system also produces barcoded delivery labels.

The Mobility suite also includes a Pocket PC-based mobile data system for drivers. The handheld terminals are equipped with integrated barcode scanners and GPRS network cards, allowing proof of delivery data to be sent back to the depot in real time.

Mnetics offers a range of options in the suite, including integrated linear, 2D or RFID scanning and GPS and telematics technologies, to provide comprehensive mobile functionality.
