Aplicom launches bid for fleet management market
Aplicom, best known for developing on-board computers, has put together a fleet management software system, allowing it to offer a complete telematics package based on its hardware, rather than just supporting other suppliers' systems. Aplicom Fleet will be available through the company's sales partners, who include Satcom and RTL. "Aplicom's focus remains on developing and manufacturing computers for telematics," says sales and marketing director Lasse Paakkola, "but we also recognise that many companies want an off-the-shelf package that includes hardware and software." Aplicom Fleet is said to cover most typical fleet requirements, including messaging via GSM or GPRS, status reports, job dispatching and vehicle location. The management software runs on a Pentium-based PC or network, and there is an optional Internet interface. The package is available with Aplicom ICA and C-series computers.
