Emergency service firm saves through tracking

Leymac, a Liverpool-based specialist in energy management systems, says the introduction of an automatic vehicle location system has produced a 15 per cent improvement in the utilisation of its fleet of service vans and a 15 to 20 per cent reduction in fuel costs. It is using the Masternaut Web-based system.

Leymac's John McCormack says the system "has shown just how much time and cost is wasted through inefficient job planning and unnecessary travelling."

He singles out two additional benefits from the system as well. It has allowed staff more flexibility of movement, since the system automatically logs them on and off; and it has helped resolve issues with customers, since it provides evidence of the arrival and departure times of engineers.

The company provides a 24-hour response service for heating breakdowns, gas leaks and similar emergencies in public buildings such as schools, hospitals and council offices.
