Intermec adds imaging to scanning handheld
Linear image scanning capability has been added to a new version of Intermec's 2435 handheld computer, along with an optional alphanumeric keypad. The company says its Vista scanning technology combines the range and precision of laser scanners with solid-state reliability and improved performance. It says the imager can read damaged, low-contrast, laminated and high-density bar codes far better than a laser. It also can read barcodes directly from CRT or LCD displays. The scanner is activated by a side-mounted button, allowing one-handed operation. A removable optional pistol grip is optional. As with all Intermec's 2400 series wireless handheld computers, the 2435 supports Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b wireless and TCP/IP comms standards, and can be factory-configured for VT/ANSI or IBM terminal emulation. The 2400 family supports Microsoft C++ programming for client/server applications, in addition to text-based browsing via Intermec's dcBrowser and terminal emulation via Intermec's TE2000 client application.
