Intermec embraces Windows with extended range
Intermec Technologies has broadened out its range of Windows Pocket PC-based mobile devices with a whole new family of handheld, portable and mobile computers based on Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 platforms. Highlights among them are the CT60 pen tablet mobile computer, the CV60 vehicle-mount terminal, the CK30 handheld terminal and the CK1 entry-level handheld terminal. There is also a new industrial printer, the PF4i. The CK30 is described as the first in a new family of ergonomic RF handheld terminals. It is available in a wide range of options including Bluetooth, spread-spectrum wireless (802.11b) and batch variants with mono or full colour screen and 42, 50 or 52-key alphanumeric keypads. It runs under Windows CE .Net, comes with an Intel Xscale processor at up to 400MHz, and can run Intermec TE2000 or third-party terminal emulation client software.
The CV60 vehicle-mount unit has an Intel P-III Ultra Low Power 800 MHz processor, and can run under either CE .Net or the full Windows XP operating system. It has a 12.1in TFT touch-screen display, and comes with built-in 802.11b/g support. Bluetooth support is also offered. The CT60 is a full pen tablet PC running under Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, and comes in a fully sealed, vacuum-tested, milled aluminium housing. The EasyCoder PM4i bar code printer is a network-ready, "smart" printer capable of operating with or without a computer. It is designed for labels up to 4 in wide, takes label rolls up to 8in in diameter, and works in either direct thermal or thermal transfer mode. Meanwhile, in the US Intermec has announced that its range-leading handheld, the 700 Series mobile computer, now supports the GlobalPoint GPS 12-channel Global Positioning System receiver. The unit simply attaches to the base of the handheld, and provides GPS location data to software running on the device.
