Radix has added a tough new ultra-rugged handheld computer to its range of advanced Windows CE-based models, combining an attractive quarter-size VGA colour touch-screen display with the latest connectivity options.

Its new FW700 is rated to the high IP67 rating (meaning it is waterproof, dust-proof and drop-proof from a height of 1.5 metres). The standard operating system is Windows CE.NET, but PC DOS 7.0 is also offered. PC Card support is built in, and connectivity options include 802.11b wireless LAN, GPRS or GSM mobile data connections and Bluetooth. Integral printing, scanning and image capture can also be included.

The company is pitching the FW700 at a variety of mobile applications such as parking enforcement, utilities management, van sales, transport, logistics and distribution, and inspection and maintenance.
