Internet-savvy portable printer
A mobile label and receipt thermal printer that can be linked wirelessly to corporate IT networks using IP (Internet Protocol) technology has been launched by Zebra. The QL220 is said to be the first IP-addressable mobile printer of its size on the market. The local-area network version of the printer can be accessed and managed as any fixed station printer on the network. The printer features its own "Web" page that can be browsed remotely, via a wired or wireless network connection, and allows the user to view general status, communication and battery information. The unit measures just 181.6mm by 90.7mm, and weighs 0.59kg with battery. Connectivity options include 802.11b and Bluetooth, and the printer can optionally have an LCD panel showing information such as battery life left or network connection status. Power comes from a lightweight lithium ion rechargeable battery.
