News was coming in as this issue of m.logistics closed for press that Royal Mail is likely to introduce the Isotrak vehicle tracking and fleet management system right across its 2,000-vehicle bulk mail operations.

We understand Isotrak has already designed a system for the organisation, and this is about to be piloted at one of its main distribution centres. Assuming the trial proves successful, the system will then be rolled out over the rest of the Royal Mail operation.

Around 30 potential suppliers are understood to have been competing in the tender for this contract, and Isotrak reportedly won partly through its track record of working for large customers such as Tesco and Sainsbury's.
