Guidance for pedestrians from MapWay

A mobile phone-based tracking and location system called MapWay offering particular appeal for pedestrian workers is now available from m-spatial. It is so far available on the Orange, Vodafone and O2 networks.

Not only does the system provide regularly-updated and detailed maps showing the location of local facilities; it also guides users walking from one place to another with step-by-step graphical walking directions.

It is based on Ordnance Survey map data, and draws on a database of 23 million buildings including houses, shops and entertainment facilities. It is said to be available on virtually any WAP enabled phone connected to one of the three networks.
