A feature called Live Tracking is now available with the Wireless Delivered mobile data solution from Talecom. It is offered on both the Express same-day system and the Runsheet next-day system.

The company says it has made a point of offering exact locations by taking readings at one-minute intervals. Chief executive Jan O'Hara compares this with other systems, which he says tend to provide only perceived locations, "which are often radically different." He also maintains that the product is simpler, and therefore easier to use and more useful, than rival systems.

The tracking uses the same GPRS mobile data system as the main product. It uses additional software on the PDAs carried by the remote workers, plus a GPS receiver antenna and map data.
