Vehicle operator pays out over warranty dispute
It has emerged that Leicester-based haulier Widdowson Group has paid £75,000 in an out-of-court settlement to telematics supplier Minorplanet Systems over the latter's claim for breach of contract, which followed Widdowson Group's refusal to let it finish fitting its tracking system to the company's 100-strong truck fleet. Widdowson stopped the work after being warned by its Scania dealer that the way the systems were being wired in, coupled with the holes being drilled in cab roofs for aerials, could invalidate the trucks' warranties. - RM
