Commitment adds linear imager scanner
A low-cost, linear imager scanner able to read barcodes up to 25cms away has been launched by Commitment, the Cheshire-based independent mobile communication and data collection company also known for its Gotive range of handheld terminals. Commitment's AS-8150 is a mid-range linear imager scanner. Linear barcode readers offer high speeds at a lower cost than traditional laser barcode scanners. The AS-8150 uses what is being called Digi-Decode technology, which makes possible barcode captures at 200 scans per second. The unit can survive a 1.5 metre drop on to concrete. It has an exceptionally bright aiming line, and works in both handheld and hands-free modes, as well as allowing long-range activation. An optional adjustable stand can be used for automated operation. The unit has PC keyboard, wedge/RS232/USB interchangeable cables, and multiple trigger modes.
