French supplier Fleet Technology has given a UK launch to a vehicle positioning and on-board fleet management system called VOLSATT. The system is said to have been certified by ANVAR (the French agency for innovation and new technologies), and to be fully operational across Europe.

Initially it's aimed primarily at cars, but its features would be equally applicable to many freight operations. The company says it is quick and easy to install, and can be removed and re-installed without difficulty.

VOLSATT is a covert-style system, using non-intrusive hidden hardware, and as you would expect from this type of equipment, theft prevention comes high on the list of benefits. It can also immobilise stolen vehicles remotely. In response to a theft, the remote server centre triggers the immobilisation command, which comes into effect once the vehicle has stopped.

The system uses GPS for tracking and GSM mobile communications to transmit information about the vehicles, whose positions are displayed on electronic maps.

 

Fleet Technology is based in Savoie in south-eastern France, and says it is currently looking for local partners and distributors.
