Real-time tracking proves cool asset for ice company
Ice Box, a company operating in the highly specialised field of ice sculpture, has introduced real-time tracking from Masternaut in its delivery van fleet, and says the measure is helping it to reduce non-productive vehicle time and achieve better journey planning. There is in fact a more mundane side to the company's business; it also supplies ice to hotels and for parties and events. These operations are likely to benefit particularly from the next step in the technology roll-out, which will involve installing Masternaut's m-schedule system. This delivers messages and navigation information to a PDA held in a dashboard cradle. "People tend not to pre-order ice," says managing director Philip Hughes, "so we need to be highly responsive. With Masternaut, we no longer have to call drivers to find out where they are. We can see where they are all the time, and inform customers."
