Talisman card verification for Mnetics

If you're using a software package from Mnetics for applications that involve "cardholder not present" (CNP) credit card transactions, you can now take advantage of the Talisman card verification scheme from Strongbridge.

The facility is offered through a new module developed jointly by the two companies for Mnetics' Mobility suite. Appropriately enough, it's called Mobility Talisman.

There are two stages in the Talisman operation. At the time of ordering, the card number is screened transparently for fraudulent use. However, the function that gets the higher profile comes when the goods are actually delivered. The consignee has to produce the credit card that was used to place the order, and this is "swiped" through a card reader on a wireless handheld mobile computer. Mobility Talisman then validates that it is the correct card

When the smartcard-based "Chip and PIN" system is implemented, customers will simply enter their PIN number to authenticate the card.

Talisman comes highly recommended. According to Phil Curtis, head of risk at Lloyds TSB Cardnet: "Within the scope of current technology available Talisman is probably as secure as CNP transactions can get."

Mnetics' Mobility Suite already provides solutions such as real-time electronic proof of delivery, track and trace, telematics and vehicle tracking data.
