Volvo protects PDAs with Pointsec
As increasing numbers of businesses introduce mobile computing solutions, the need for security systems becomes more acute. One company that has tackled the issue head-on is Volvo Corporation, which has chosen a system from Pointsec Mobile Technologies to protect 2,500 mobile devices running under the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system. The system it has chosen is Pointsec for Pocket PC 2.1, whose capabilities include automatic, real-time encryption of all data on a user's PDA, including documents created with Microsoft Outlook, Notes and Pocket Word. Features include enforceable mandatory access control using a choice of password methods, and proprietary PicturePIN and QuickPIN authentication technologies.
Pointsec offers protection systems for a range of operating systems including Pocket PC, Palm OS and Symbian OS.
