Aplicom updates development platform

Having led the field in in-cab computers and telemetry equipment for many years, Finnish-based manufacturer Aplicom has launched a new software development platform, Regatta, for building mobile and remote industrial applications to run on its products.

Regatta has been developed around the company's C-Series computer, which has multiple interfaces and a rugged design, and is considered ideally suited to remote or mobile applications. Programming is done in Java and J2EE, while data security and integrity are handled by modern encryption techniques.

Benefits are said to include rapid remote programming and monitoring, the ability to add new clients simply and quickly, and the ability to create relevant and personalised reports. The system is said to reduce the cost of programming tools, allowing simulation and testing of functionality in the virtual environment.

Aplicom products are supplied through a partner network in over 30 countries including the UK, and feature in many on-board computing and telematics packages.
