Members of the Road Haulage Association who are finding the forthcoming Road Transport Directive a challenge can update their working hours information from a desktop computer, mobile phone or PDA under a new service launched by the organisation.

The RTD2 software automatically logs the times, calculates the total working time and highlights any infringements - all in real-time terms. The service is being offered free until March 2005, after which it will cost £1 per employee per week.

The system echoes the one launched on the open market earlier this year by Road Tech Computer Systems, the company which hosts the RHA's Web site (m.logistics, last issue). That service too is free for the time being.
