ByBox limbers up for rollout, adds scales
As it gave an official launch to its consumer-focused drop-off network, using combined phone boxes and box bans, ByBox unveiled the latest innovation in its despatch market armoury – a box bank with integral scales that allows users to weigh and despatch items for return or onward delivery. ByBox has also confirmed that it is in discussion with several major online retailers about using the consumer delivery service once it gains momentum. The first 30 boxes are due to be in situ soon. The company sees the box bank with scales as ideal for users such as eBay vendors or similar small home businesses. The system has already been deployed in France, where ByBox makes the hardware and also has box networks in situ. The demonstration version had open access to the weigh pad, which occupied the position of one of the box compartments, and would be ideal for indoor use. For external applications the company a more secure version might be added to the range.
