Cat operators can monitor performance remotely
Operators running construction equipment made by Caterpillar will be able to take advantage of a built-in wireless tracking and reporting system, following an agreement between the company and Toronto-based CSI Wireless to fit the company's Product Link PL102C system. Users will be able to configure the Product Link system to report back automatically on the unit's location, engine hours worked and other key performance measures. CSI's tracking system, Asset-Link 100, uses wireless communications and GPS satellite tracking. The communications system is currently built around the US-based MicroBurst technology developed by Aeris.net, which uses cellular telephone infrastructure to carry the data signals.
