GPS in a box for Palm Tungstens
While Pocket PC-based handhelds seem to be becoming de rigeur in the transport community, PalmOne devices are still very much a force to be reckoned with - especially when a complete "GPS in a box" navigation system package like the latest Kirrio system is offered at an all-in price of £399 including VAT. For your money you get a PalmOne Tungsten E PDA, plus a Bluetooth GPS receiver and ViaMichelin MapSonic software - all packaged together. The mapping comes either on CD or preinstalled on an SD memory card. Both voice and visual navigation instructions are included. The Tungsten itself has a 320 by 320 transflective colour screen display, and comes with 32 MB of on-board memory and a 126 MHz processor. The package is being promoted by Widget UK, which specialises in products for handhelds from companies such as Kirrio and TomTom.
