Lightweight handheld from Datalogic
The progressive adoption of the Windows CE operating system for mainstream data collection purposes is reflected in the launch of a new "mid-line" model from Datalogic. The Minec 4x is a lightweight, monochrome model with one-eighth VGA display, weighing just 310g including battery, but it runs the latest Windows CE 3.0, and also incorporates an integrated 802.11b wireless Compact Flash card for real-time radio connectivity, as well as an infra-red port. An RFID HF-ISO module (13.56ÊMHz) allows the reading and writing of a variety of industry-standard RFID tags at an operating range of up to 10 cm. For operators using existing systems, the Minec features Datalogic's terminal emulator software, which supports both VT100/220 and IBM5250 standards. The main processor runs at 66 MHz, and standard equipment includes 16MB RAM memory and 32MB.
