HHP adds long-range model, upgrades to Windows Mobile

A new pistol-grip variant of the Dolphin 9500 range of handheld computers has been launched by HHP, featuring integrated laser technology. The 9551 is aimed at long-range scanning applications in a warehouse environment - jobs such as cross-docking, picking and sorting, and high-shelf scanning.

The company has also announced that all models in the 9500 range (including the 9500 and 9550) now incorporate the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PCs operating system. The company says this makes it easier to connect them to wireless networks, and adds that other benefits include more efficient memory management and enhanced application performance for mobile information management.

HHP says it can offer Windows Mobile upgrades for existing Dolphin 9500 and 9550 units running under the Pocket PC 2002 platform.

Like other models in the 9500 series, the Dolphin 9551 is a rugged unit with support for 802.11b wireless communications, and has a colour display, 64/32 MB of memory, and 35 or 56-key keypads.

  • Meanwhile, the Dolphin 9500 is now available with integrated GSM/GPRS.
